Caroline Knöri came to Vontobel from Google. Now the HR manager is transforming the Zurich family bank, which was once dyed in wool, into a newly created fintech yuppie booth.
The latest transfer hit from Google’s ex-wife is a fintech entrepreneur who is touted as a guru of the new banking world.
“Toby Triebel, successful founder and CEO of FinTech business models, will take over the management of the Vontobel Digital Investing Client Unit on October 5, 2020 and will become a member of the Operating Committee,” Vontobel announced this morning.
Triebel will turn Vontobel into a 2.0 banking powerhouse. Brings a lot with him, says the bank in its ad.
“Toby Triebel joins Vontobel from the international company FinTech Wealthsimple, where he was responsible for the start-up and growth of the digital investment manager in Europe and the US for the past four years as Managing Director for Europe and International Director.”
“Before that, Triebel, as co-founder and CEO of Berlin FinTech company Spotcap, successfully gained experience in developing new digital business models.”
The new star takes over Zeno Staub’s “Digital Investment” division. Staub, the CEO of Vontobel and a digital immigrant, gives the helm to a digital native.
This is totally to the taste of HR-Ms. Knöri. She causes a stir on the scene because she constantly writes job profiles in English.
It doesn’t matter where the wanted man or woman is deployed. Global and technology, these are the two drivers of the long, old-fashioned Vontobel.
On the contrary, many end up on the streets that, in the eyes of the dome, are no longer good enough for the future. Entire teams have disappeared since New Vontobel was announced last December.
The great renovation takes place under the leadership of two old-school bankers: Zeno Staub and its president Herbert Scheidt. It is not clear exactly where his Züri-Bank is headed; maybe you don’t know.
Scheidt is primarily responsible for his external mandate, the presidium of the bankers association. And Staub has largely left the blood soda in the hands of his tech HR wife.
