Tiger Woods was injured in a serious car accident in California. According to police, the golf superstar’s vehicle rolled over south of Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. The 15-time Major winner had to be rescued with a hydraulic rescue device and taken to hospital in “serious condition”.
Police did not initially provide further information on the 45-year-old American’s health. His manager, Mark Steinberg, told “Golf Digest” magazine that Woods had suffered several leg injuries and is currently undergoing surgery.
Woods was alone in the car, according to police. Therefore, other vehicles were not involved in the accident. The police officer in charge said the car had suffered “serious damage.” Television images showed a badly damaged pickup lying on its side several meters from the road.
Giants and renowned sports stars wish the injured golf pro all the best on social media. Including Wood’s ex-girlfriend and ex-ski racer Lindsey Vonn.
Woods had to undergo repeated operations on his back in December. His return was scheduled for April at the first Masters of the year in Augusta.
