Michelle Gisin took the podium for the first time at the World Cup even after a giant slalom. The Olympic combined champion is writing another chapter in the history of Swiss skiing.

Reaching this podium in the giant slalom is one of his main goals for the winter, Gisin revealed a few weeks ago. This as a reaction to fall 2019, when Gisin hadn’t lagged behind with her big ambitions, but was then mostly disappointed with the (speed) season.

“Sonja Nef was my best role model”
Two and a half weeks after the first World Cup victory in the Semmering slalom, Gisin has set the next milestone in the giant slalom. Third place on the icy Kranjska Gora track, where the men’s World Cup usually takes place, is his “most emotional podium so far, because it’s the last thing I was missing,” the off-roader said in an interview with SRF. “When I was a child, Sonja Nef was also my best role model for me. That’s where my love for giant slalom comes from. “
