The performance of the Italian Marta Bassino in the second race of the Courchevel giant slalom impressed. The Italian, after the first race just under half a second behind Petra Vlhova in second place, conjured up a splendid time on the French snow. Vlhova couldn’t keep up and even fell back to second place behind Sara Hector, who celebrated her third podium of her career.
Swiss women
- 8. Michelle Gisin +3.09
- 9. Lara Gut-Behrami +3.39
- Wendy Holdener retired
There were two first 10 places for Swiss-Ski. Michelle Gisin, fourth in Sölden but not on the podium, finished in eighth place. Lara Gut-Behrami advanced 6 positions in the second race to 9. In the prologue of the glacier in the Ötztal, the Ticino woman was eighth. Gut-Behrami then convinced third in the parallel race at Lech / Zürs.
Wendy Holdener, who was 11th after the first race, retired at Courchevel that afternoon after an indoor skiing error. In the second giant slalom of the winter, it was already the second disappointment for the Schwyzerin after falling 19 places in the final in Sölden to 26th place.
Corinne Suter (34th), Jasmine Suter (37th), Camille Rast (47th), Priska Nufer (59th) and Mélanie Meillard (60th) had already failed in the first race.
Foggy conditions
Conditions were tough for Courchevel’s female cyclists. Especially in the middle section of the second race, visibility was restricted due to heavy fog. So it was difficult for drivers to see from door to door.
