Shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday, an accident occurred on the A13 motorway, in which nine people were injured. According to the police of the canton of Graubünden, a 58-year-old German was driving his car in the direction of Thusis. At the same time, a 25-year-old Swiss was traveling in the opposite direction. The two carriages collided violently near the Reichenau train station. It is not yet known why the frontal collision occurred.
As also reported, an 83-year-old German who was also driving south in his car was unable to brake fast enough and a rear-end collision occurred.
Several injured
Nine people were slightly or seriously injured in the accident. They were taken to the cantonal hospital of Chur and St. Gallen and to the hospital of Schiers. In addition to the Graubünden Cantonal Police, a helicopter from the AAA Alpine Air Ambulance, Rega, two ambulances from the Chur Hospital, an ambulance from the Schiers and Thusis Hospital and the Chur Road Rescue Service were in action.
The A13 was closed on Saturday due to the accident almost until noon, around 3.5 hours. Traffic was diverted. (rac)
