Novak Djokovic remains at the French Open without losing a set. The 33-year-old Serbian did not admit to Ricardas Berankis any breakthrough on serve in the second round, but broke the Lithuanian 6 times. Djokovic’s victory was never in jeopardy, he served too well and consistently against his sometimes overwhelmed opponent. Already in his first game Djokovic had done a short work of Mikael Ymer in 3 sets.
After his difficult start to the tournament (victory in five sets after 0-2 disadvantage) he showed Stefanos Tsitsipas a formidable performance in the second round. The Greek defeated the conqueror of Laaksonen Pablo Cuevas in less than an hour and a half and only played 8 games. “I am very happy with my game today,” Tsitsipas said. “A big thank you to my physical trainer and my physiotherapist, who put me in shape for this match.”
Is no longer in the tournament Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian lost to the Spanish Roberto Carballes Baena after exactly 5 hours in 5 sets played. Shapovalov had to deal with a high error rate throughout the game, eventually having an incredible 106 errors of his own. For Carballes Baena, entering the third round of a Grand Slam is a novelty. For the first time, he won a game in 5 sets.
