On Monday night, a police patrol from the canton of Friborg tried to stop a driver who was driving in Châtel-St-Denis FR on the occasion of a traffic control. The driver refused to obey the orders of the officers and fled at high speed in the direction of Corsier-sur-Vevey VD, as the police say.
When he reached Palézieux-Gare VD, he lost control of the car, crashed into the railway markings and stopped on the train tracks. At the time of the incident, three people lived in the canton of Friborg in the vehicle.
Passenger (18) injured – two 19-year-olds arrested
In the accident, the 18-year-old passenger was injured and was taken to a hospital by the ambulance. The driver and the other passenger, both 19 years old, were not injured. He has been provisionally arrested.
Early investigations have shown that the driver only has a learner’s license and was driving a vehicle that he had stolen in Cousset that night. Rail traffic was interrupted for eight hours. The stolen vehicle was towed from a garage and taken to the waiting room. (szm)
