Andri Ragettli, Kim Gubser and Sarah Höfflin qualify for the Big Air final at the Freestyle World Championships in Aspen.
Andri Ragettli and Kim Gubser will battle for medals in Big Air at the Freestyle World Championships in Aspen. Both Ragettli and Gubser climbed to 93 points in qualifying for Tuesday’s final. For the former, this was enough for third place in his series, Gubser finished fourth in his group. Both results are enough to participate in the final of the top 12.
This gives Ragettli the opportunity to double his title in slopestyle. Gubser was fifth in the Slopestyle final.
However, Nils Rhyner and Colin Wili are not in the final. Both clearly lost the rankings. This is particularly bitter for Wili – the 22-year-old had missed the slopestyle competition due to lack of an entry permit and only arrived in Aspen shortly before qualifying. Now the World Cup is over for him.
Höfflin in the final, Gremaud falls twice
Sarah Höfflin secured the final classification for women. The French-speaking Swiss jumped 90 points in the first of two rounds, which was enough for fifth place. He skipped the second attempt. Perhaps the 30-year-old did not want to risk anything regarding the final. The 2018 Olympic champion had missed slopestyle competitions due to a training crash.
For Mathilde Gremaud, however, the World Cup is over. The silver medalist in slopestyle fell on both jumps and missed the final ranking.
