On Saturday night there was a violent confrontation between two groups of young people and adults in St. Alban-Rheinweg around 00:30 am under the Wettstein Bridge. This is announced by the Basel prosecutor’s office.
Previous investigations by the criminal police, the prosecution and the juvenile prosecutor’s office showed that the parties involved were in two groups in St. Alban-Rheinweg. As a result, there was a verbal and then violent confrontation between them, in which they hit the ground and kicked each other. The groups consisted of a 20-year-old Swiss and German and a 21-year-old Swedish and English, as well as a 17-year-old Italian, a Colombian and a Swiss and an 18-year-old Swiss, according to authorities. Four of them were slightly injured.
Police are looking for witnesses
The notified police stopped and verified those involved at the scene.
The exact course of events and the motive for the violent confrontation have not yet been clarified and are being investigated by the Criminal Police and the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. Persons who can provide relevant information, in particular other persons present at the scene, are asked to contact the criminal investigation department of the prosecutor’s office, the juvenile prosecutor’s office or the nearest police station.
