The last race of the crazy Corona 2020 season. It’s time to say goodbye and say thank you.
For RTL, after 31 years in Formula 1, it’s over. After 533 runs, the Cologne-based private broadcaster now reported an impressive 3.14 billion viewers.
No more Ebel, Danner, Water or King
In the spring, RTL no longer wanted to bid on the offer from pay-TV station Sky. Now of all time, when Mick Schumacher and Vettel’s Grand Prix race begins a new adventure with Aston Martin begins.
Also for many Swiss fans, the farewell to RTL is a loss, despite numerous commercial breaks. They miss cult figure Kai Ebel and stars like Christian Danner, Heiko Wasser and host Florian König.
Half goodbye to ORF
Until his departure in late 2017, Niki Lauda was the poltergeist on the RTL mic for 21 years. It was over on Sunday, but a few runs ago, the station stopped letting its team get to the venue. Too dangerous!
Some tears will flow at ORF today. From 2021 you have to split the races with the Red Bull TV station Servus. Here is the half farewell of Ernst Hausleitner and Alexander Wurz.
Mercedes-Wolff would put Grosjean in the cockpit
Romain Grosjean (34) also wants to say goodbye to Formula 1. “My fire accident in Bahrain cannot mean the end after 179 races!”
In 2021 he wants to do a few more laps to have fun in any Formula 1 car. Wolff, Mercedes boss: “We would give Romain this chance!”
