Pérez to drive for the best Red Bull team in 2021
Sergio Pérez will remain in Formula 1 after all, in 2021 even in an absolute team: the Mexican will drive for Red Bull next season. The racing team announced this decision on Friday. Pérez will take over the cockpit from Alex Albon of Thailand, who has been demoted to reserve pilot. Pérez had previously lost his place at Racing Point to Sebastian Vettel. Now Perez, 30, is teammates with Max Verstappen, who finished the recently finished World Cup in third place.
Ineos joins Mercedes
The Mercedes racing team has clarified its organizational future for the next few years. In the future, the British chemical company Ineos and Toto Wolff will be equal partners and owners of a third of the shares of the world championship team together with Daimler AG. Ineos has acted as a sponsor so far, with Mercedes’ parent company holding 60 percent and Wolff 30 percent of the shares. The Austrian will also lead the Formula 1 racing team as team boss and managing director for another three years.
