The 40-year-old wanted to work on concrete elements of a pedestrian bridge with a forklift at 11 a.m., as the police of the canton of Graubünden announced on Saturday. One of the elements was attached to the forklift for lifting.
Before the lifting process, including the driver, he fell about three meters into the Plessur River, as they say. Co-workers were able to help the slightly injured man out of the water.
The work of the Graubünden cantonal police at the accident site was carried out with the help of the Chur city police, the Chur fire brigade and a specialist from the Nature and Environment Office. The bridge was closed and the forklift was recovered with a tow crane.
