The Federal Council takes up the issue again. It issued a final warning on Friday afternoon. He says that if the new measures don’t work, the only thing left is the lockdown.
Starting on Saturday, Sunday sales are prohibited and there is a curfew between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Shops, markets, museums, libraries, and sports and leisure facilities must also be closed on Sundays and holidays. The restaurants and bars, meanwhile, may be open until 7:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. On the night of December 24-25 and New Years Eve, the curfew does not apply until 1 a.m.
Aargau government welcomes uniform rules
The governing council welcomes uniform rules at the national level. This corresponds to a concern of the canton that has already been raised several times, according to a message. It is understood that drastic restrictions are necessary due to the high and in some cases still increasing number of infections. In particular, to avoid greater stress in hospitals and health personnel ”.
At the moment, the canton of Aargau is not reinforcing or complementing federal measures. This is also in view of the fact that the Federal Council will carry out a new assessment of the situation next Friday and, if necessary, decide on further adjustments.
The governing council also welcomes the increase of the compassionate use program from CHF 1.5 billion to CHF 2.5 billion. It also asks to be able to adjust the eligibility requirements if necessary. The government will now also examine whether financial measures are needed at the cantonal level in addition to federal aid.
No relaxation of the curfew until the end of the year
The Federal Council allows cantons with a favorable epidemiological development to extend the curfew until 11:00 p.m. The prerequisite for this is that the reproductive value is less than 1 for at least seven days and the incidence of 7 days for at least seven days below the Swiss average. In addition, there must be sufficient capacities in contact tracing and in the health sector. If a canton wants to extend the curfew backwards, it must coordinate with neighboring cantons.
In Aargau, an extension of the curfew due to current figures is currently out of the question. The replay value is 1.02. That means: 100 infected people infect 102 more. The 7-day incidence of 332 infections per 100,000 population is also above the Swiss average of 315.2.
The governing council also writes that until the end of the year Aargau cannot be expected to fall below these two values. However, it considers the exception clause to be “sensible and appropriate”.
The situation in the canton remains tense
The situation in Aargau remains tense. On Friday, the canton reported 463 new infections for the previous day. The general situation is currently difficult to assess, and a reliable prognosis is currently not possible, the cantonal medical service announced in its weekly bulletin. There were 503 new infections on Wednesday, a new negative record. “This number of cases may correspond to a new growing trend or a daily fluctuation,” said the cantonal medical service.
