Mauro Caviezel will not participate in any of the seven outstanding speed races.

Mauro Caviezel will not contest any more World Cup races this season. Swiss-Ski announced this on Thursday evening.

“My head injury is not fully healed yet, it still takes a little time,” Caviezel was quoted as saying. The previous year’s winner of the Super-G ranking fell in a training session at Garmisch in January. He suffered a ligament injury and head trauma.

Failed return

Caviezel returned to the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup in February. However, like many other drivers, he retired early in the Super-G.

At Saalbach, Caviezel did first practice on Wednesday for the downhill races on Friday and Saturday. Thursday morning in the second practice session no longer started, now the season is canceled. The 32-year-old is now fully focusing on rehab and coming winter.
