- Hurricane “Sally” made landfall on the US Gulf Coast at 165 km / h wind speeds near the city of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
- “Sally” is now officially a category two cyclone on the National Hurricane Center (NHC) five-digit scale.
- At the same time, the authority warned of possible “catastrophic and life-threatening floods” along the affected coastal area.
Hurricane “Sally” was announced Tuesday with heavy rains, stormy surf and flash flooding off the US Gulf Coast. On Tuesday night, residents of Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida reported high winds and heavy rains, as well as flooding in residential areas, as the New York Times wrote. According to CNN, the first reports of power outages were available before the storm hit.
After making landfall, the storm is expected to move inland across Alabama and decrease as it progresses. Meteorologists also warned of possible tornadoes.
The forecasts for “Sally” have changed over and over again in the last few days. Initially, the cyclone was said to hit the mainland in southeastern Louisiana near the Mississippi border at night.
Just three weeks ago, Hurricane “Laura” hit Louisiana and wreaked havoc on it. “Laura” was a level four hurricane and therefore extremely dangerous. At least 15 people died, hundreds of thousands were left without electricity and the supply of drinking water was also partially interrupted.
