The acquisition completes the Findus brand, which is already owned by Nomad Foods in all other countries, the British group announced. Findus is a well-known Swiss frozen food brand and produces frozen vegetables, fish sticks and other ready-made meals. The previous owner, Froneri, is a joint venture between Nestlé and PAI Partners.
The deal is expected to be completed in early 2021. Nomad Foods expects to achieve business and acquisition synergies. Therefore, the transaction should have an immediate effect on adjusted earnings per share. Nestlé did not comment on the on-demand sale.
400 employees
Findus employs more than 400 people in this country, as can be seen from the information on the Findus website. The history of the company goes back a long way. Findus, short for “Fruit Industries”, launched the first frozen products in Sweden as early as 1945. In 1960, Nestlé took over the brand and the headquarters moved from Sweden to Switzerland.
Nearly ten years later, Findus merged with the Frisco Freezer Company, a business that started in 1942 and later belonged to the Bernhard & Co cannery in Rorschach. Little by little, Nestlé took over the whole company, but then it sold the Findus brands in other countries and concentrated on the Swiss business. In 2016, the business was finally outsourced to the Froneri joint venture. (pbe / SDA)
