In the opinion of the Independent Radio and Television Complaints Authority (UBI), the film about the Grisons whistleblower Adam Quadroni, broadcast on SRF television, violated the principle of fairness. No journalistic due diligence had been observed, the RBU found on Friday.

The focus of the film “DOK” broadcast on December 4, 2019 is Adam Quadroni, who briefed the competition commission on the agreements between the construction companies in Graubünden. It is about the impact on the life of the complainant with the title “The price of sincerity: the life of Adam Quadroni after the construction poster”.

Increased journalistic due diligence indicated

According to a UBI announcement on Friday, the complaint brought against him primarily criticizes the representation of the president of the responsible regional court, who is mentioned by name several times in the film and is shown with a picture. Several people have made serious accusations against him.

In a corresponding constellation, there would be greater journalistic due diligence, the UBI noted. In a controversial consultation, he finally came to the conclusion that they were not met and that the audience could not form its own opinion on the role of the criticized president of the regional court.

Although the poignant fate of Adam Quadroni was truly at the center of the film, the deficiencies found were not merely secondary points from the point of view of programming law. In the vote, the UBI approved the complaint with only four or three votes.
