It is a museum project that will cost football 500 million francs.
During an investigation, outside experts found evidence of the alleged act of unfaithful business management by Sepp Blatter’s former management, FIFA said.
The criminal complaint targets the total cost of the project of CHF 500 million. The old administration invested 140 million in the renovation and modernization of a building that did not belong to FIFA. In addition, a rental agreement has been concluded that will cost FIFA 360 million francs when the contract expires in 2045.
“In view of the enormous costs of this museum (” Haus zur Enge “) and the general way in which the former FIFA leadership worked, a forensic examination should provide information on what actually happened,” said the Under-Secretary-General of FIFA Alasdair Bell Message.
The “Haus zur Enge” offers an area of 3000 square meters on ten floors for exhibitions, events and gastronomy. The project also includes 34 apartments and offices for 140 people.
The FIFA Museum on Zurich’s Seestrasse opened in 2016, after the end of the newspaper’s 84-year tenure, which had announced its resignation the previous year.
The Zurich prosecutor’s office confirmed receipt of the claim at the FIFA Museum. Now the ad will be checked. “The allegations are unfounded and vehemently rejected,” said Blatters’ attorney, Lorenz Erni.
