The Federal Council’s plan had been different. The number of cases should have been cut in half in a two-week cycle. So, it would have started the Christmas holidays with around 1000 new infections every day. Celebrating and meeting family would have been less complicated for Corona. Rather than toughen up further, individual relaxation could have been discussed. Instead, a serious health minister speaks to the nation on Friday. The situation is worrying. The number of cases would have stabilized at a very high level. They would even rise in seven German-speaking cantons. In western Switzerland, on the other hand, the trend is encouraging, after the number of cases there had previously skyrocketed.
