The second wave of the corona pandemic hits Switzerland with full force. Last week, the Federal Council tightened the screw again, including closing nightclubs and limiting public events to 50 people. However, cases are increasing, and today, Wednesday, the limit of 10,000 new infections reported in one day was exceeded for the first time.
At 2.30 p.m., the federal councilors Ueli Maurer (69), Viola Amherd (58) and Alain Berset (48) will appear before the media. Last week, Berset said the tougher measures were “the last chance” before he threatens a shutdown. The Federal Council is unlikely to tighten the screw again, as several cantons are already proceeding much more strictly.
Regulation of hardships in the Federal Council
It is not yet clear what help can expect companies affected by the crown. If the Minister of Economy, Guy Parmelin (60), keeps what he promises, this regulation could be in force at the beginning of December. Parmelin had announced that he would bring the relevant ordinance to the Federal Council by this Wednesday.
But before the ordinance takes effect, the cantons will have a voice. It is not yet clear whether the previously negotiated solution can be implemented. Previously, the federal government was expected to bear half the costs and the cantons the other.
