The Federal Council has decided: To avoid overloading the health system and hospitals, from tomorrow, Saturday, December 12, until January 22, the following measures will be applied.
Curfew from 7 pm, closed on Sunday: Shops, leisure and sports facilities (including fitness centers) must close between 7 and 6 am and remain closed on Sundays and holidays. This does not apply to pharmacies, open air markets or gas stations.
Restaurants must also close from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., but may be open on Sundays and holidays. On December 24 and for New Years Eve, the curfew does not apply until 1 a.m. Take-out deals and delivery services may stay open until 11 p.m. Restaurants that exclusively serve hotel guests also they can be open until 11 pm
Private meetings: In private they are allowed to continue maximum 10 people get together. Children are counted. The Federal Council also strongly recommends limiting private gatherings to two households.
Public events: All public events are prohibited except for religious celebrations (maximum 50 people), legislative meetings and political rallies (maximum 50 people).
Sport and Culture: Sports activities in free time are only allowed in groups of up to 5 people. Contact sports are still prohibited. Group activities are also limited to 5 people in the non-professional cultural sector.
Sports and cultural activities are allowed for children and young people under 16 years of age. Training and competitions of members of a national team, as well as training and games in professional leagues, are still possible without an audience. Rehearsals and performances by professional artists or ensembles are also allowed.
Exception for cantons with favorable epidemiological evolution: Cantons with a favorable epidemiological development can extend the curfew until 11 pm The prerequisite for this is that the reproductive value is less than 1 for at least 7 days and the 7-day incidence of new cases is below average Swiss for at least 7 days. In addition, sufficient capacities must be available in contact tracing and healthcare. If a canton wants to extend its opening hours, it must coordinate with neighboring cantons.
According to information from the press conference, currently the exceptions would be in the cantons Freiburg, Geneva, Jura, Obwalden, Vaud, Neuchâtel and Valais possible.
