Clear victory for FC Luzern against Vaduz: extension of the lead to last place

FC Luzern left nothing to burn in the home game against last group Vaduz and won 4-0. Even before the break, the course was set for victory: Vaduz harmless throughout the game.

Brief report

FC Luzern start their basement match against Vaduz with Marvin Schulz, for the suspended Stefan Knezevic, and Marco Burch in central defense. In the center of the left field, the new signing Jordy Wehrmann makes his debut in Fabio Celestini’s starting eleven. The home team clearly starts the game better, makes the game and has a better chance of scoring. Vaduz is limited to defending and is expecting quick counterattacks. Guests are particularly dangerous after corners or free throws.

The FCL can also counter: After a somewhat unconventional free kick defense from goalkeeper Marius Müller, Dejan Sorgic and Louis Schaub pressed. Schaub wins the ball and can only attack a defender with Pascal Schürpf. Schürpf took the lead after 24 minutes. The FCL added in the 31st minute: Filip Ugrinic hits with a good blow, the squad comes again from Schaub. Vaduz can no longer react in the first half.

Vaduz comes off the break better, with more vigor, but he remains unconvincing. The best scoring chance is possible thanks to a coordination problem between FCL players Schulz and Müller. After an hour of play, it is the home team that increases the advantage. After a free kick by substitute Lorik Emini, Schürpf takes Dejan Sorgic into the penalty area, scoring his eighth goal of the season.

Vaduz no longer believes in victory, Lucerne has the game under control. Substitute Ibrahima Ndiaye still benefits from a rebound after substitute Varol Tasar’s shot – 4-0. It stays that way until the end. An important victory for Fabio Celestini’s team.

Marius Müller is left without conceding a goal against Vaduz.
