Since the interview with our newspaper last Monday, Francesco Margiotta has stayed out of the training sessions of the professional team of FC Luzern on four occasions without excuse, said the club’s communication officer. “The club has taken legal action,” continued Markus Krienbühl. The consequence is clear: “FC Luzern and Francesco Margiotta will go their separate ways in the future.”

Margiotta’s contract with FC Luzern is valid until the end of June 2022. The 27-year-old Italian has been playing in Lucerne since last season. In the first season he scored eleven goals and gave nine assists, becoming the top scorer for Fabio Celestini’s team.

As Francesco Margiotta said in an interview with our newspaper, he would have expected an improved contract after his successful first season with FCL. Because before that he had won significantly more at Lausanne-Sport. “I gave up a lot of money when I moved to Lucerne.”

Margiotta had no longer played the first two league games of the season in Lugano (1: 2) and against Lausanne (2: 2). FC Luzern signed a new center forward with Dejan Sorgic on Thursday.
