There was a fatal car accident between Oberrüti and Sins on Friday afternoon. In the out-of-town area, a truck and Toyota collided head-on at 2:50 p.m. The driver died of his serious injuries at the scene of the accident, Roland Pfister, a media spokesman for the Aargau cantonal police, said on Friday.
The identity of the victim has so far not been unequivocally clarified, cantonal police wrote in a statement Saturday morning. The trucker, a 43-year-old Swiss citizen, remained unharmed abroad.
It is still unclear why a head-on collision occurred on the open route. The completely demolished car, a Toyota, was thrown into a stream.
The main road between Sins and Oberrüti had to be closed to carry out fact analysis and recovery work. The Dietwil-Oberrüti fire brigade established a diversion. This measure lasted until around 9.20 p.m.
The Muri-Bremgarten public prosecutor has opened an investigation to clarify the cause of the accident. Property damage in the amount of several tens of thousands of francs was incurred.
