Last night there was a serious traffic accident on Luzernerstrasse in Littau. A pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing the street and was thrown. The man was later hit by a rear vbl bus. He suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene of the accident. The investigation is carried out by the Lucerne prosecutor.
On Thursday, October 15, shortly before 7:30 pm, a car driver was driving down Luzernerstrasse from Lucerne towards Littau. At the level of property # 88, there was a collision with a pedestrian crossing the crosswalk there. The man was thrown forward more than 20 meters and then hit by a rear vbl bus. The 42-year-old Sri Lankan man was injured so badly that he died at the crash site.
Luzernerstrasse was closed for about five hours during the investigation and rescue efforts. Traffic was diverted locally by the fire department.
Members of the Lucerne City Fire Brigade, 144 Ambulance Service, Lucerne Emergency Pastoral Care / Care Team, Official Office and Lucerne Police were on duty.
