Flags and cartoons have been hanging all over Basel for weeks. They all have the same message: “Get out!” They all urge FCB President Bernhard Burgener and FCB CEO Roland Heri to leave in a more or less hostile manner. Senders are fans of FCB. Even during the international game against Germany on Sunday night, an angry FCB fan audibly yelled at the St. Jakob-Park, which was empty due to Corona: “Burgener, wow!”
Many fans have long tired of managing “their” FC Basel. As early as June, Muttenzerkurve asked Burgener and Heri in a public letter to resign immediately. The current leadership no longer sees prospects for FCB, he said, listing all the shortcomings, omissions and mistakes made by those responsible.
The FCB reacted immediately and rejected the resignation demands.
But the Basel supporters just don’t give up. You rewrite the signals, for example in: “Zit zum goo!”. And recently they have been hanging slightly modified movie posters in Basel. Always in the main roles are Burgener and Heri, who are not loved.
Fans let the action cost something
There’s the movie poster for the 2006 action drama “Apocalypto.” Or from “Toy Story” (1995). Even poor Swissair has to serve. 2006’s “Grounding”. Currently in Basel, the film is called: “Grounding – the last days of the Burgenair” is the slightly modified title. Most posters are creative, not all of them would win an Oscar again.
But what all the posters have in common: They’re professionally made and they shouldn’t have been cheap either. Desperate FCB fans seem to be digging in their own wallets for their protest posters.
Confused by movie mogul Burgener
With the movie posters you probably hope that international film producer Burgener – he is the owner of “Constantin Film” – really gets your message this time.
By the way: instead of Constantin Film, some posters mention “Consternierd Film” as a producer. Confused (dismayed) is probably an understatement for the effort fans put in.
