The Hofmann family will remember this Sunday walk for a long time! “When we were standing on a small bridge over the Mülibach in Fischenthal ZH, we saw something moving in the stream”, says Pascal Hofmann (35). His wife saw immediately that it was a snake. However, the animal was already dead, only the water had taken care of the supposed movements.
Zoo staff confirmed Art
“I took a stick and pulled out the snake,” says Hofmann. He immediately realized that it was probably not a native species. “I called a colleague who works at the Zurich Zoo and he confirmed that it was a boa constrictor who does not live here.”
It is not clear how he got to Mülibach. “Either she ran away somewhere herself or someone deliberately left her,” says Hofmann. If the latter is true, it would be “pretty ugly,” he tells BLICK. “These animals come from warmer areas, and if someone had abandoned the snake it would be a disaster. You know for a fact that it will not survive with us at these temperatures. “
“It smelled pretty strong”
Hofmann’s son Janis (4) was particularly impressed by the 1.5 meter long boa. “But we didn’t take the snake home because it smelled enough,” said the father of the family. The family then left the corpse to nature. Pascal Hofmann: «I didn’t feel like hanging it at home. But we took a lot of photos. We will remember it for a long time. “
