Excavation is under way in the spa district of Baden to lay the pipes for the new Botta pool. It will open in late autumn 2021. The findings at Kurplatz are therefore much more important than was assumed at the beginning of the excavations. The archaeologist of the canton of Aargau, Thomas Doppler, even used the word “spectacular”. Now it’s clear: in the middle of the 700-square-meter Kurplatz, in the heart of the spa district, there was a place of worship in Roman times with several altars connected to the hot springs.
