Europol calls on the public to help with a new Most Wanted campaign: police photos of some 59 offenders (including 18 sex offenders) will be published online and on multimedia channels for about four weeks. The campaign can be seen in about 19 countries. The population must help catch the criminals.
Among sex offenders, the most frequently listed crimes are “rape” and “sexual exploitation of children and child pornography”. Sex offenders only include men, not women.
In a press release, Europol writes that a sex crime is committed every two minutes in Europe. Including: rape, sexual violence, or sexual assault. Women and children are mainly affected.
Adding population is important
Suggestions about offenders can be submitted anonymously via the eumostwanted.eu website and then sent directly to the responsible authorities.
The first campaign of 2016 shows that adding population can be important: according to Europol, around 91 criminals have been arrested since then and the population has suggested 33 times. (my I)
