Manchester United gave up the victory in the last minute in the first leg of the first leg against AC Milan. The English record champions had to accept the draw against the Serie A runners-up in the 92nd minute and be content with the 1-1 draw. Simon Kjaer scored in torrential rain from Manchester after a corner kick for Milan.
Amad Diallo scored the supposed winning goal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team shortly after the break. For the 18-year-old Ivorian it was the first goal in the “Red Devils” outfit. In the first half, Harry Maguire missed the first goal and hit the post from very close.
Arsenal win in Piraeus
A year ago, Arsenal had already failed in the knockout stages of the Europa League against Olympiacos Piraeus. After the first leg, the Gunners seem less likely to suffer the same misfortune this year. The English won 3-1 in Piraeus. Martin Ödegaard with his first goal in the Arsenal shirt and ex-Basel Mohamed Elneny made the difference. They both succeeded with a long-term goal. Granit Xhaka played 90 minutes at Arsenal.
Good number for the Rangers
Glasgow Rangers still have a good chance of progress after the first leg of the first leg against Slavia Prague. The newly crowned Scottish champions drew 1: 1 against the last remaining Czech representative. After Nicolae Stanciu Slavia took the lead (7th), Filip Helander equalized for Glasgow (36th) and scored the important goal away from home. Cedric Itten sat on the Rangers bench for 90 minutes.
Tottenham win thanks to Kane
Tottenham appeared in the duel with Dinamo Zagreb as expected. Coach José Mourinho’s team defeated the Croatian series champions 2-0 at home. Harry Kane was twice as successful. The Englishman hit the opposite net at 25 and 70 minutes. In Zagreb, the Swiss Mario Gavranovic entered in the 78th minute.
Villarreal, Granada and Roma victories
Villarreal has one foot in the quarterfinals. The Spanish beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 away from home. AS Roma and Granada also created an equally good starting position. While the Romans defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 at home, Granada beat Molde 2-0 at home.
