More Republicans in the United States Senate want to appeal the upcoming certification of the results of the presidential elections in Congress on January 6. Eleven Republican senators announced their intentions in a joint statement Saturday. They justified the plans with complaints of electoral fraud and alleged irregularities in voting in several states of the United States. The group demanded that Congress immediately form a commission to investigate the allegations urgently within ten days in order to have clarity before the new president’s inauguration on January 20. Otherwise, they may not be able to approve the results.

The group is led by Senator Ted Cruz, 59, of Texas, who is loyal to incumbent Republican President Donald Trump, 74. Several other Republicans in the group had only made the jump to the Senate in the November elections and will be sworn in on Sunday in the House constituent session.
