- The municipality of Brig-Glis has filed a criminal complaint for alleged electoral fraud in connection with the general council elections on Sunday.
- The prosecutor has opened an investigation, he said.
According to the municipality of Brig-Glis, some 25 lists in the Grand Council elections and an equal number in the alternate elections would be affected by the alleged electoral fraud. “We immediately reported this to the canton,” says Ursula Kraft, city secretary for the Brig-Glis community. There it was said, according to Kraft, based on the descriptions, the lists were valid and the results could be transmitted.
Big loser from CVP
“Due to voter fraud in 2017, we decided to file a complaint anyway,” says Kraft. The prosecution did not want to provide any information at the moment.
CVP emerged as a big loser in the Valais cantonal parliament elections. It lost seven seats, but remained the strongest parliamentary group. The Greens and the SP profited from their losses with a gain of five and two seats respectively.
According to the city clerk, nothing will change in the result regardless of the result of the report.
