A resident reported the fire on the property on the Hofackerweg at 6:15 p.m., Aargau cantonal police announced Friday. Black smoke came out of the underground garage.
Within minutes of the cantonal emergency response center receiving the alarm, the first regional police patrol and the first emergency services of the Sisslerfeld fire brigade were on site. Extinction work started quickly.
According to the first findings of the cantonal police, the fire started in a parked car. This caused a lot of smoke in the collective garage. More than 20 other vehicles were damaged by smoke and soot. Police cannot yet quantify damage to property. Nobody was hurt.
Due to the fire, the main road between Stein and Eiken had to be temporarily closed. In addition to the Sisslerfeld fire brigade, other fire brigades were deployed from neighboring communities. Cantonal police have started an investigation into the exact cause of the fire.
