Egnach homicide: Victim has been identified – is the missing woman from Bottighofen
The victim of the Egnach homicide is a 62-year-old woman who has been missing since the end of October. The circumstances of the crime and the perpetrator are still unknown.
(kapo / chs / more) Research from the Institute of Forensic Medicine has shown that the human remains can be assigned to the 62-year-old Swiss woman who disappeared in Thurgau. Thurgau canton police wrote in a press release.
The missing person was last seen on October 29 at his home in Bottighofen. On November 2, the vehicle with which the woman was traveling was found in Scherzingen. The Thurgau canton police then launched extensive searches.
Cause of death still unknown
The exact cause of death and the perpetrator are still unknown according to the notification. The circumstances have not yet been fully clarified and are the subject of further investigations by the Thurgau cantonal police and further investigations by the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Police media spokesman Michael Roth said on request: “The investigations are in full swing. However, the police cannot provide any information on the current status. According to the media spokesperson, after the call for witnesses, various information was received, which is now being evaluated ”.
The Kreuzlingen prosecutor is conducting criminal proceedings against the unknown perpetrator.
Massive injuries
On December 5, shortly after 10 am, a man discovered the remains of a person in a wooded area near Egnach “Sangehölzli”. He immediately informed the police. Specialists from the Thurgau Canton Police Forensic Service and the St. Gallen Institute of Forensic Medicine secured traces at the site until overnight.
During the recognition by the Institute of Legal Medicine, massive injuries were found on the victim, according to the Canton Police announced on December 8. Due to these circumstances and further investigations, the Thurgau canton police and the Bischofszell prosecutor’s office assumed a homicide.
