Shortly before 12 noon, the police of the canton of St. Gallen received a report of the disappearance of a plane over Lake Constance. He was about to land at Altenrhein airport. Rescue workers are on the scene with large numbers.

(Lex) At around 11.30 am, the St. Gallen canton police emergency call center received the message that a plane was missing from Altenrhein airport. According to Kapo spokesperson Florian Schneider, it is unclear if it crashed.

“We are on the site with a large number.”

According to initial information, it is a small aircraft. The cantonal police continue to provide information on the number of inmates.

Responsible persons at Altenrhein airport will also confirm the missing report upon request. Press spokesman Thomas Krutzler cannot provide further details. “The investigation is ongoing”. Currently, the responsibility lies with the police of the canton of St. Gallen.

A machine crashed almost exactly 32 years ago

Next Tuesday will be the 32nd anniversary of the accident of a Commander AC-90 in Lake Constance. The “Rheintalflug” machine crashed as it approached the Altenrhein airfield in the Rorschach fog on Lake Constance. All eleven inmates were killed, including Austrian Minister for Social Affairs Alfred Dallinger. The accident was attributed to human error, but could never be fully resolved.
