Due to illegal donations from Switzerland, which were veiled with the help of straw people, the AfD is now being asked to pay. According to information from “Spiegel”, the German party must pay more than half a million francs.
These are two penalties from the Bundestag administration for illegal donations to Swiss parties. The inadmissible acceptance of two illegal “straw man donations” costs the party a total of 504,429 euros, or almost 545,000 francs.
The amount of the sanction consists of two specific sanctions against the match. The fine is based on funding for the AfD-organized congress “European Visions – Visions for Europe” in February 2016, according to “Spiegel”.
Two cases, two penalties
Part of the event costs were financed by a Swiss advertising agency. The Bundestag administration assesses this funding as an illegal donation from the party. The fine: 108,412 euros.
The second fine of 396,016 euros is also based on a payment classified as an illegal donation. At the heart of the matter is the leader of the AfD parliamentary group Alice Weidel (41), who also lives in Switzerland. In 2017, a total of 150,000 francs flowed to his district association.
Between July and September 2017, this CHF 150,000 passed from the Zurich pharmaceutical company PWS to the chairman of the AfD parliamentary group. (euc)
