For three players from the U-20 team, the dream of the World Cup in Edmonton has exploded because of the crown.
Yves Stoffel had to leave the World Cup preparation camp for the U-20 team in Cham and Zug. The 19-year-old forward tested positive for coronavirus in the second of three rounds of PCR testing. His roommate Jannik Canova (Davos) is also unable to travel to Edmonton.
The same goes for Kevin Lindemann (Leksands / SWE). In this case, however, the situation is different. He tested positive as one of the four players on Monday. All four had previously tested positive and consequently had antibodies, so they were allowed to continue training. However, Lindemann’s first positive test is outside the 90-day deadline set by Canadian authorities, so he too must stay home.
Sunday he goes to Edmonton
“Flexibility is essential in these times,” said U20 head coach Marco Bayer. “We are making the most of this challenging situation. I am convinced that it will unite us as a team and make us stronger. “
The team will travel to Edmonton next Sunday. Preparations for the World Cup will continue there after a four-day quarantine. The Swiss will play their first round match against Slovakia on December 25.
