At around 3 am, a car headed towards a traffic control in Düdingen. But instead of stopping, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, nearly hit a policeman and sped in the direction of Laupen. Two patrol vehicles immediately began chasing them, but they soon lost sight of the car.
Emergency services finally found the vehicle in Bundtels, a village near Düdingen. During the hit-and-run, he ran off the road and crashed into the concrete wall of a barn with all his might. Also, the engine of the crashed car began to burn after the accident.

Police still tried to help the victim. Two occupants of the getaway car died at the scene of the accident. Even the use of a defibrillator could no longer save the victims.
