Dubé’s stroke of genius: the million has been saved, Díaz can come

Gottéron’s sporting director and coach Christian Dubé says he will have to save a million for next season. Now you have found the solution and saved the million. Sometimes everything is much easier than we think. Is there a Christmas present for Gottéron fans?

An oracle (probably a chronicler) had once prophesied that whoever was able to untie the Gordian knot would gain control of Asia. Many bright and strong men tried this task. No one managed to untangle the cleverly knotted ropes. But then came the spring of 333 BC. C. BC Alexander the Great, did not hesitate long and simply cut the knotted ropes with a single stroke of the sword. Then he conquered a world empire.

Today the phrase “cutting the Gordian knot” means solving an almost insoluble problem with unconventional means. Alejandro the great of our hockey is Christian Dubé. Although he has not yet won the championship title with Gottéron.

This was Dubé’s Gordian knot:

He faces a really big problem: signing Raphael Díaz and saving a million at the same time. Impossible. He does not extend his contract with Philippe Furrer and Marc Abplanalp resigns. With the upcoming stretch with Andre Bykow, he can save a six-figure sum and we almost forgot that Noah Schneeberger’s salary next season will no longer be a burden on the books. Gottéron can easily save more than a million. But a large part of this saving goes back to the loan of Raphael Díaz.

As captain of the Swiss national team, Raphael Díaz receives the award for “Best team in 70 years”. Image: keystone

The solution Christian Dubé has found is as astonishingly simple as cutting an inextricable knot with a single stroke of the sword. He does it without a new coach. A great coach worthy of the great Gottéron costs approximately between 700,000 and 800,000 gross francs. If Gottéron doesn’t hire a coach next season, then the million will practically be saved.

That is why Christian Dubé has just officially renewed his position as head coach for two years and remains sporting director at the same time. This removes the head coach’s expense item from the budget for the next two years. Upon request, he confirms that he does not earn the salary of a head coach and sports director. So we can assume that he will serve the double term for roughly the same amount of money that Kari Jalonen once received as a coach in Bern.

When asked if he saved the million with the double mandate, Christian Dubé does not like to answer with a “no”. Of course, it doesn’t say “yes” either. But take note of the chronicler’s calculation with the greatest pleasure. You obviously like this analysis. Because it’s true. And it shows that you really have to save a million.

Christian Dubé does not want to deny or confirm the commitment of Raphael Díaz de Zug. But he finds the proposal to confirm the transfer interesting, if made, with a press release on December 24 or 25.

As a Christmas present, so to speak, for Gottéron’s loyal fans.

Around 18,000 companies and government agencies were attacked. Experts speak of the most important case in modern history.

Russia, Russia, Russia. After nearly three years of investigation by Special Envoy Robert Mueller and impeachment, Americans seemed fed up with cyberattacks from the former “evil empire.” To this day, it is also controversial how damaging these attacks really were.

With today’s cyber attacks, these doubts are unfounded. They are much worse than initially thought. Most likely, the Russian …
