Restaurants are closed. Gas station stores are closed even during the holidays. But the drivers still have to go to the bathroom or shower. Now the Swiss Association of Commercial Vehicles (Astag) is sounding the alarm: “Open the toilets now!”
You have to act immediately. “Conditions for our drivers are absolutely unacceptable,” said Thierry Burkart (45), central president of Astag. Restrooms and showers are difficult to access for professional drivers. However, road transport should continue to run smoothly. “Reliable basic services have no respect at all,” says Astag’s press release.

Also, open systems are in unsanitary conditions. The only exception are rest areas on national highways. These could now be reopened. Therefore, Astag requires an exemption for professional drivers.
You want to adhere to the hygiene measures of the Federal Office of Public Health. But drivers can no longer wash their hands regularly. Specifically, Astag calls for toilets, showers and hot meals to be opened. Also, cleaning staff should be used.
