On Monday, October 19, 2020, shortly before 8 am, the Bern canton police received a report that a deceased person had been found on a property in the so-called “Des Alpes area” on Höheweg in Interlaken. The deployed patrol found the confirmed report in an apartment. As a result, various special services of the Bern cantonal police, including the forensic service, were summoned for initial investigations and, in particular, to obtain evidence. Police work on the property is complex and, like multiple interrogations, will likely take several days.
According to previous knowledge, the deceased who presented injuries that indicated massive forceful violence was the victim of a homicide. The Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Bern was called in for further forensic examinations. There are concrete clues to his identity, but formal identification is still pending.
