Mönchengladbach beat Dortmund 4-2. National defender Nico Elvedi strikes twice against compatriot Roman Bürki.
Before the duel between the two Borussia, the issue of Breel Embolo was of particular interest in the Lower Rhine. Against Dortmund, the attacker returned to the Gladbach squad after his internal suspension, shortly before the end he even reached a partial deployment.
Nico Elvedi once again provided sporting highlights. The defender, who scored the winning goal against Bremen on Tuesday, even scored twice this time, for the first time in his professional career. BVB goalkeeper Roman Bürki didn’t look good on the second goal when he let a free kick bounce forward and shake Elvedi.
Haaland also hits twice
As Erling Haaland also scored twice on the other side, it was 2-2 at halftime. Algerian Ramy Bensebaini (49th) made the preliminary decision shortly after the break. Marcus Thuram capped his comeback after a long suspension with the 4: 2.
While Mönchengladbach scored 13 points in 5 games in the new year, BVB was without a win in the third game in a row.
