In SC Bern there is change of coach. Canadian Don Nachbaur has informed the club that he is retiring immediately for personal reasons. Until a successor is found, Mario Kogler, the coach of the elite youth U-20s, will manage the team.

After a poor start to the season with four wins, eight losses and 10th place after twelve games, the change in managerial position is not surprising. However, it was to be hoped that it was not the club, but coach Don Nachbaur himself, who would pull the tightrope. “The SCB very much regrets the resignation of their coach, but has great understanding for the Austrian-Canadian’s decision,” the club wrote in a message. Y: The SCB went on to say that both parties had agreed not to disclose the reasons.

Until a successor for Nachbaur is found, elite U20 coach Mario Kogler will be in charge of the team. The 33-year-old Austrian has been working in the SCB’s junior department for three years. Before that, he worked for Thurgau and as an assistant coach in the Swiss League at EHC Visp.

The coaching staff will be expanded after Nachbaur leaves. Alex Châtelain, who was replaced as sporting director by Florence Schelling last spring, is also new. Mark Streit, who is on the youth coaching staff, will also support the new team.
