At the animal shelter in the Birs last weekend, objects were found indicating an act of dog haters, the TBB Switzerland Foundation announced.
The spiked wooden pole was discovered last Saturday by an attentive participant in the shelter’s dog walk service. The stick was on the Birs, a few meters from the entrance of the dog walker, the message said. “Due to the location, the alluvial deposits of the Birs can be discarded,” as he says. At the same time, chopped dog baits and two dead rats were found. The bait was scattered around the shelter.
Lawsuit filed
“The prepared stick can now be assigned to the work of those who hate dogs clearly enough,” the foundation concluded. The stick and bait are currently in the veterinary office in Basel-Stadt for detailed examination. The analysis is intended to provide additional information about the found objects.
Torture of animals is a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. “The TBB Switzerland Foundation is therefore filing a criminal complaint against unknown persons,” as the statement says.
