Novak Djokovic confidently advances to the semi-finals of the ATP Finals.

The season is over for Alexander Zverev: Novak Djokovic beats the German in straight sets and is in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic can still look forward to his sixth ATP Finals triumph, his first in five years. In the decisive third game of the group, the Serbian beat Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6: 3, 7: 6 (7: 4) and qualified for the semi-finals. There he meets US Open champion Dominic Thiem on Saturday afternoon. Last year Djokovic lost to the Austrian in the preliminary round and was eliminated.

Above all, Zverev has to be upset about a miserable start. The 2018 Masters winner lost the first seven points of the game and fell 3-0 in no time. After that, he acted strongly, especially on his own serve, but was never able to take Djokovic’s serve. In the second set tie-break, the German led 2-0, but could only score two points. After 1:36 hours, Djokovic sealed the victory with a strong forehand.

The second semi-final will be played by Russian Daniil Medvedev and Spaniard Rafael Nadal on Saturday night.
