If you look at it closer, you are surprised: there are no real patients lying in bed in front of Federal Councilor Alain Berset (48). But dolls.
The recording, which BLICK published yesterday on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Health to the canton of Neuchâtel, aroused skepticism and outrage among some readers. Group chats share screenshots of the photo. “That should be a joke,” writes one reader. «Our Federal Council talks to dolls in the hospital. How stupid are we being sold? ”Says someone else on Twitter. National councilor SVP Andreas Glarner (58) also shared the photo in outrage, obviously without clarifying the background.
The photo was taken in the training room.
The reason for the emotion is an error that happened to BLICK in the formulation of the title. The photo said that Berset had visited the hospital in Neuchâtel. That’s not bad, but the picture shows something else: a practice room at the Arc Santé University of Applied Sciences in Neuchâtel, where future nurses will be trained.
After meeting with employees of a Covid-19 department at the hospital in Neuchâtel, Berset, Anne Lévy, head of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), and Viriginie Masserey, head of the infection control section of the FOPH , they also visited the university. There they met with the management, teachers and students, according to a press release from the canton. The school’s students currently support the nursing staff in the hospitals.
Simulators for students
The dolls are simulators for nurses. They are used in training so that students can practice in the most realistic way possible. They can be used, for example, to practice intubation or defibrillator resuscitation.
BLICK had temporarily removed the photo after receiving the first skeptical reactions until it became clear in what context the photo was taken. The legend has now been corrected. We apologize for the confusion. (lha)
