They should lie in their graves, slowly rot there, but the carcasses of the mink, which have been destroyed a million times, do not comply with the wishes of the Danish government. They are being expelled from the ground, the eerie spectacle is currently taking place in several mass graves.
The reason is the gases that form in the mink carcasses. This will inflate them and push them up. As there is only one meter of earth above the corpses, some of them are pressed. Now the authorities have to pour another layer of soil over it.
The sandy soil is too light
Several million dead minks are found in West Jutland. And the sandy ground is too light, says a spokesman for the “mirror.” Therefore, more soil must now be placed on top.
The mass extermination raises concern among neighbors and environmental groups: the graves could affect groundwater or nearby bodies of water. According to the daily “Jyllands Posten”, two mayors in the region are calling for the minks to be dug up and burned again.
By mid-November, the Danish authorities had killed between 15 and 17 million minks. As it turned out, the necessary legal basis for the mass slaughter was lacking. Meanwhile, the government has secured a parliamentary majority for a legal framework that will legally secure the move and ban mink keeping in Denmark by the end of 2021. (neo)
