Largo grew up in Winterthur and later studied developmental medicine and pediatrics in Zurich and Los Angeles. During his 40 years at Children’s Hospital Zurich, the pediatrician and developmental specialist led one of the world’s largest long-term studies of child development.
Largo advocated a pragmatic but careful approach, loving and at the same time patient with children. The pediatrician’s conclusion after more than 50 years of research: “If each child can develop according to their individual needs and talents, society will also benefit more.”

“Eight billion people live in the world, and each of these people is unique,” Largo said in a 2015 DOK film.
