On Monday, October 5, around 5 pm, the police were alerted because a dead young man was found in an apartment on Theodor Herzl-Strasse.
Previous investigations by the criminal police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office showed that the young man, a 15-year-old Swiss, had stayed in the apartment of an acquaintance with several other youths or young adults. The 15-year-old lost consciousness after possibly consuming an unknown substance, authorities said. Hours later, the ambulance of the Basel-Stadt ambulance was alerted, which could only determine death.
No third party influence
The cause of death has not yet been clarified and is the subject of investigations by the Criminal Police and the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the Institute of Legal Medicine, the authorities continue to write. There are currently no indications of third party influence. Why the emergency services were only notified later is being investigated in several interviews.
