The accident happened around 1:15 pm on Wangenstrasse, as announced by the Bern Canton Police. The 63-year-old driver was traveling from Herzogenbuchsee BE in the direction of Wanzwil BE.
In the event of a bifurcation, there was a collision with the 81-year-old for reasons that are not yet clear. The seriously injured cyclist was initially treated by bystanders and a team of ambulances. A Rega helicopter was deployed to transport them to the hospital. However, the Swiss from the canton of Bern was so injured that he later succumbed to his injuries.
